James McBride, author of the 2016 Nashville READS selection, The Color of Water: A Black Man's Tribute to His White Mother, will wrap up this year's programs with a presentation and book signing at the Nashville Public Library on Monday, May 9th.

Join Humanities Tennessee, the Nashville Public Library, Parnassus Books, and the Office of the Mayor to celebrate the conclusion of Nashville Reads 2015. 

Since mid-March, we have been celebrating throughout Nashville the novel Between Shades of Gray, by the author Ruta Sepetys. Sepetys, a Nashvillian, wrote the YA novel based upon the true experienecs of her family as Lithuanian citizens were rounded up by the Russians during World War II and forced to work in brutal conditions in work camps in Siberia for a decade or more.

Mayor Karl Deal and 2015 author Ruta Sepetys will kick things off on March 12 at the Nashville Public Library, and events will continue throughout the year.

Nashville Reads is a community-wide reading program that encourages everyone to read a specific book and attend special events and discussions related to the book.
