The project commemorated the 250th anniversary of Henry Timberlake's visit to the Overhill Cherokee Nation in 1762. Timberlake's maps and memoirs provide excellent glimpses into 18th century Cherokee life and the interactions between the Cherokee and English populace. The program featured Cherokee-led tours of their Little Tennessee River Vally homeland, living history interpretation and cartography demonstrations. Humanities Tennessee supported the honoraria and travel of scholars for a series of lecture discussions over the two-day event.
