Who Owns Water?

Pickwick Landing State Park

Who does our water belong to?  The landowner or the public?  How do we balance the needs of economic development and the protection of water sources?  How are decisions made about the withdrawals from waters or the discharges into waters?  These questions have plagued this area since TVA built its first Dam here.

Pickwick Landing hosts Southern Environmental Law Center attorneys Beth Alexander and Christina Reichert, who will address these questions and  explore the legal quagmires that have swept the world’s most valuable resource.

Wednesday, October 18, 2-4pm, Pickwick Landing Inn, Conf. Rm. 3

This event is part of Water|Ways, a Smithsonian exhibit on view at the park's inn Sep 30-Nov. 12, 2017, and made possible by Humanities Tennessee.
