Who Owns Water?

Who does our water belong to?  The landowner or the public?  How do we balance the needs of economic development and the protection of water sources?  How are decisions made about the withdrawals from waters or the discharges into waters?  These questions have plagued this area since TVA built its first Dam here.

Ocoee-Hiwassee State Parks hosts Southern Environmental Law Center attorneys Amanda Garcia, Anne Passino, and Christina Reichert, who will address these questions and  explore the legal quagmires that hves swept the world’s most valuable resource.

Tuesday, Sept 12, 7pm, Etowah Community Center, Etowah, TN

This event is part of Water|Ways, a Smithsonian exhibit on view at the park's visitor center Aug 12-Sep 24, and made possible by Humanities Tennessee.
