Literary Death Match Coming to Nashville

Third Man Records, Nashville

Literary Death Match is coming to Nashville! Humanities Tennessee is partnering with Third Man Records and The Porch Writers' Collective to host this celebrated series on Saturday, October 11, as part of the 26th annual Southern Festival of Books

What is Literary Death Match (LDM)? Four authors read their own work for 7 minutes or less. They're judged by 3 all-star judges who respond (often comedically) to the work before choosing 2 finalists to compete in the LDM finale, a vaguely literary game (think Pin the Mustache on Hemingway) to decide the ultimate champion.
Antonya Nelson, multi-award winning author of nine books, including the all-new Funny Once
Teresa Mason, owner of Mas Tacos
* Ben Swank, former Soledad Brothers drummer and cofounder of Third Man Records
* Bret Anthony Johnston, author of the award-winning Corpus Christi and editor of Naming the World
* Patricia Lockwood, author of Balloon Pop Outlaw Black who has appeared in the New Yorker and Tin House
* Abraham Smith, poet and author of Hank and Whim Man Mammon
* Adrian Matejka, is author of The Devil's Garden and Mixology, a winner of the National Poetry Series
