2016 Tennessee State History Day

Humanities Tennessee is a proud sponsor of Tennessee History Dayheld Saturday, April 9 at Legislative Plaza, War Memorial Auditorium, Tennessee Tower, and Nashville Public Library in downtown Nashville. This state competition for grades 6-12, engages students in the process of discovery and interpretation of historical topics. Students produce dramatic performances, imaginative exhibits, multimedia documentaries, websites, and research papers based on research related to an annual theme. The theme for the 2016 contest is Exploration, Encounter, Exchange in History.

These projects are then evaluated at local, state, and national competitions. Tennessee History Day is open to all public, private, and homeschooled students. All students compete in district History Day competitions before being eligible to compete at the Tennessee History Day State Competition. Winners of the State competition are eligible to compete in National History Day, at the University of Maryland in mid-June.
