Museum-School Partnerships Garner Support

The Parsons & Greater Area Museum and the Pleasant Hill Historical Society/Pioneer Hall Museum are both embarking on projects to strengthen their relationships with their local schools by providing students with insightful museum programs that meet the educational goals required of teachers.

Humanities Tennessee has provided support to both organizations to plan the museum education programs through our Community History Development Fund (CHDF).  The planning committees consist of local teachers, museum volunteers, and a professional museum educator. Program implementation, which is also eligible for support, will follow the planning projects. The goals of both projects are threefold. The first is to use local history resources to address curriculum standards. Secondly, the projects will get students in the museums and the museums into the schools.  Lastly, the entities hope to cultivate an interest and understanding of local history in the youth population.

As partners of our CHDF, both museums are eligible for support for projects called for by their strategic/operational plans.  Learn more about the CHDF here.
